Okay, not completely raw just yet. Possibly not completed raw ever. I mean, I don't intend to turn down dinner invites that involve, say, the oh-so-wonderful Blue Cactus. Hell, I probably wouldn't turn down another invite to Mack's despite my 2 lunch choices at that particular establishment: french fries or onion rings. I like to think of this as a more balanced approach to what will still be an overwhelmingly raw-centric diet as opposed to, say, being overly attached to social dining. It's all so new and free-formed right now...we'll see how this transition unfolds.
In that vein, I did begin the day with a combination: a raw salad with macadamia nut oil/lime/rosemary dressing from Sarma's Living Raw Rood...and 2 slices of pizza leftovers. I took a similar approach to dinner: a simple salad with Newman's Own decidedly-processed-though-not-terrible-for-you dressing (which I will not be replacing when it runs out)...and a medium-sized salmon fillet cooked with olive oil, lime juice, and pepper.
I also made some amazing raw cacao and avocado pudding. Also from Sarma's Living Raw Food cookbook. There were a few poor substitutions on my part: macadamia nut butter instead of making my own pecan nut butter and light agave nectar instead of dark. Too much macadamia nut better too, I think. Still decent tasting and so filling. It almost makes me feel okay about the 6 billion dollars that I spent on raw ingredients, like cacao powder.
Also day one on the no coffee journey. I hit bottom with my coffee consumption last week. Time for a change. This morning I nursed 1 12oz cup of joe. This afternoon I took a 4 hour nap. Tomorrow: end game for coffee. I don't care if I completely sleep through my 3 day weekend. I'm breaking up with you, coffee. And no, it most definitely is you...
